Justcoin was founded by Klaus Bugge Lund and Andreas Brekken. Klaus has a background in finance with a Master's degree in finance. Andreas is a highly experienced software architect.

It was founded on May 7th, 2013. It provides users with the option to deposit using bank wire (EUR, USD, NOK) and a Ripple gateway. Trading is conducted in BTC/EUR, BTC/USD, BTC/NOK, BTC/LTC, BTC/XRP pairs.

A flat trading fee of 0,5% is applied to matched orders, which can be lowered down to 0,0%.

Security of users' funds is claimed by the owners to be the main priority at all times. Most bitcoins are stored in encrypted offline wallets in bank vaults. Users are advised to keep their passwords private and to have Two-factor authentication (2FA/OTP) enabled for their own account's safety.

The project is based on open-source software. It also supports an affiliate program.
